ABOUT

About Our Story

Ivy and Margaret have been fierce opposites since childhood. The quirky personality of Ivy’s sensitive soul longs for the freedom to express itself. Her older sister Margaret feels protective and has a strong vision of what she believes Ivy’s life should be like. Ivy has grown to feel trapped by the loving expectations of her sister.

In her 60s, Ivy lies in a coma. She dreams she lives in a hippie campervan - spaceship as she floats through space and counts the stars. As time goes by, Margaret sits by Ivy’s bedside, faced with the decision of whether or not to cease care for her sister.

Our Mission

We hope to show the complex relationship of two sisters in their 60’s as they learn to let go of the expectations they have for each other and for the world. Incalculable Unknowns is about finding freedom. Older women are often portrayed in film as static characters and not given the opportunity to be seen as protagonists. By highlighting the complexity of female relationships and exploring a nuanced spectrum of emotions, we hope to offer this opportunity.

This project is important because of the significance of its topic and the experience it will give its cast and crew. Older women are often portrayed in film as static characters and not given the opportunity to be seen as protagonists. By highlighting the complexity of female relationships and exploring a nuanced spectrum of emotions, we hope to offer this opportunity.

Incalculable Unknowns was written by Annabel White and will be directed by her Fall 2021 as Biola University’s “Biola Film”.
